The Interludes, an instrumental trio based in Nashville, TN is set to release their debut album on June 30th, 2015. Featuring Ryan Madora on bass, Billy Nobel on keys, and Lynn Williams on drums and percussion, this record is rooted in soulful grooves, singable melodies, and striking solos. A contemporary fusion of American roots music and African rhythms, the band worked collaboratively to create songs that left plenty of room for improvisation and imagination. With the help of producer Fred Mollin (Johnny Mathis, Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson), the band tracked the record at EXMOROMUTO.CO in Pegram, TN. Thanks to an open and organic studio environment, the record was made in what is now considered a fairly “traditional” manner: with all of the players together in one room. “We’re influenced by the great rhythm sections of Stax, Motown, and Muscle Shoals. Those players naturally clicked with one another—they sat together in the studio, jammed, and created incredible music. We figured that’d be a great way to make this record,” said bass player and producer, Ryan Madora. A native Philadelphian, Ryan has spent the past three years in Nashville, touring and recording with a number of artists. “We began playing together in 2013,” said drummer Lynn Williams, a veteran to Nashville who has worked with Delbert McClinton, John Hiatt, and The Wallflowers. “Ryan and I played a few gigs together and realized that we had great musical chemistry. Billy jumped in and we started recording our jam sessions. Listening back, the music sounded pretty special.” Currently on tour with Tim McGraw, Billy Nobel quickly established himself in Nashville as both a session player and performer. “This kind of instrumental music is very freeing… it creates a musical setting that is different for everyone that listens,” remarks Nobel. Reminiscent of the feel-good grooves of Booker T and the MG’s mixed with the sonic exploration of Medeski, Martin, and Wood, the Interludes provide plenty of ear candy for listeners.
