简介
Animal Circus play a joyous mix of rock and roll, reggae and ska wrapped up in gypsy swagger and delivered with an authentic punk DIY ethic. Through their live-shows, a truly distinctive sound and an excellent first album they've garnered a significant buzz on the London circuit in a very short amount of time. Joel Fry and Keiran Merrick bonded over a love for the track ‘Pink Elephants’ this and their early circus flavoured songs inspired the band’s name. Their lyrical and vocal styles compliment one another (guttural growl versus falsetto finery) as does their oddball guitar playing, kitchen sink cynicism and enthusiasm for unusual scales and harmonies. Msimisi Affolderbach-Dlamini’s early life in Swaziland has left an unmistakable Afro-style stamp on his infectious bass lines. He is also a well-trained vocalist and is as comfortable smashing out opera as he is screaming heavy metal mayhem. All three are singer/songwriters and performers in their own right - the combination of their individual styles creates a sonic juxtaposition that keeps the listener enthralled. Sam Rigby drives the quartet. A solid fatback drummer who kicks out the beats to make it all complete. His well thought out drum lines keep the Animal circus wheels well oiled and ready to roll. As individuals Animal Circus are the strange notes in the scale, the devils intervals, or the minor sevenths. This is reflected in their eccentric music and their anarchic live shows.
