Young Australian musicians Chris Howlett (cello) and Van-Anh Nguyen (piano) are successful and touring solo artists in their own right but collaborate for the first time as a duo, performing the very best of 19th century cello & piano salon music with the lyrical transcriptions of songs rearranged for the tenor timbre of the cello along with works that are less likely heard for cello and piano. Spawning from a friendship within the musical world, the collaboration came into fruition. Amidst the duo's plight in exposing not only these much loved classical works but reaching new audiences through classical playing, both perform not only classical works but their own duo arrangements of modern favorites such as Eva Cassidy, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Coldplay to name a few. With Chris' lyrical playing and Van-Anh's contagious personality and energy, the works of Popper, Saint-Saens, Cassados, Tchaikowsky, Rachmaninoff and Fauré are interpreted in a refreshing yet sonically fashionable way, resulting in their debut album entitled ‘Sentimentales’.
