简介
Rex Robards Texas Singer/Songwriter Rex Robards grew up on a small ranch in Central Texas where his family raised cattle and trained horses. It was a natural progression for him to join the rodeo circuit. But little did anyone know that riding bulls, combined with spending five years in the U.S. Navy, would eventually parlay his life into that of one of the best singer/songwriters the Lone Star State has reared! Rex's love for performing music began at the age of eleven when he started playing the drums. It wasn't until the age of twenty that he put down his sticks, picked up a guitar and went to writing songs. He was soon asked to perform these songs live, often on tailgates and around campfires for friends and fellow contestants after rodeos. It was a natural fit! Life situations, rodeo, love and loss provided Rex with plenty of inspiration to write and sing original country and blues. Robards has always had a knack for engaging an audience with his "everyman" perspective on life. His music is simple yet sophisticated, soulful, energetic and even humorous. He is an accomplished musician with a band that is every bit as talented and live performances are his forte. He can take you from 0 to 60 in a single opening number! Rex's new CD, just released by an independent Nashville label, Shanks Records, has a mired of "sure to be hits" and is already receiving great reviews along with airplay on many Texas radio stations. Rex Robards, along with the Barefoot Cowboy Band, is beginning to transcend some well drawn Nashville and Texas music borders by creating a style that is truly all his own! His fans have often described Rex Robards as “The guy with a Nashville voice, but a Texas attitude”. He refuses to “fit the mold” of today’s typical country artist, although by his own admission, it would probably make his music career much easier. He continues to be a little bit country, a little bit bluesy and a little bit rock and roll, which has proven to be a great combination and a welcome change to the ever-growing country music scene. "Its like meeting a young George Strait. You just know this guy's going to make it." Jim Patrick, KIKT 93.5 Greenville, TX "Not to compare Rex, but story tellers like Jim Croce and Tom T.
