Back in 2005 Nancy Elizabeth (Cunliffe) recorded this EP, her debut release prior to abbreviating her name and signing to The Leaf Label in 2007. This EP was recorded in the gorgeous acoustics of St. Brides church in Liverpool over two consecutive all-night sessions where Nancy contended with and ultimately embraced the occasional passing taxi and early morning birdsong. It takes influences from sources as diverse as European gypsy songs, choral a cappella and North African music as well as more traditional British forms. Playing all of the instruments herself, these six tracks are an early example of her approach to minimalist song-writing, layered arrangements and her distinctive vocal style.
