In 2003 keyboard player/singer/songwriter Ray Vanderby formed alternative rock band Cosmic Nomads in Sydney after his marriage broke down ending in divorce, even after his wife promised she understood his rock n roll life style. Vanderby initially based the band in Sydney but in 2005 he formed 2 line ups based in Melbourne. Since 2003 Cosmic Nomads has released 2 singles, 1 EP, 3 albums and 4 music videos. The band has gigged extensively throughout the Eastern states and had national radio airplay as well as television music show appearances. Vanderby took the band off the road in 2007 to pursue other musical projects. In June 2011 Vanderby decided to teach himself guitar and it was time for a Cosmic Nomads come back as fans had been hounding him for quite some time. In July Cosmic Nomads mark iv was formed comprising members Ray Vanderby – guitar/vocals, Caillan Gilbert – guitar, Steve Dickie – drums, Mick Swift – bass. After some intense rehearsals the band emerged with a rocket fuelled sound and an album’s worth of Vanderby’s original songs. Cosmic Nomads 2011 live shows were an immediate success with audiences which gave them the inspiration to head into the studio to record. Damage is the title of the 4th album by Cosmic Nomads released on 20th January 2012 through the band’s Majique Music record label. The 10 track album rocks as you would expect from a band that cut their teeth in the Australian pub rock scene. Damage offers of songs about pain, heartache, break ups and survival, something songwriter Vanderby knows about. I Hate You is the first single lifted from the album, released 20th November 2011. I Hate You is a song about one sided love, betrayal and is accompanied by a music video, a good representation of what fans can expect from the album.
