简介

The idea of Cold Manicotti originally started in 1994 when musical friends Sebastian Teufel and Michael Moje, both from Frankfurt Germany, decided to share the rent on a rehearsal room in a dilapidated bomb shelter just outside Frankfurt. Bruce Saint-Hilaire from Los Angeles, joined the two in 1996 after attending a show in which he states "For your classic 'Garage Band', the guys were pretty good on stage but the lead singer was absolutely terrible and I just had to help, although my experience was limited to long showers". The infancy of the band to say the least is quite interesting. After a three week rehearsal period, the band played their initial gig at the exclusive Neues Theatre in Frankfurt Hoechst in the "Music Un-Plugged" series and two weeks later were offered a record deal with the Warner Group. At the time they had only four or five original songs but the combination of songwriters Teufel and Saint-Hilaire, armed with a record contract and very little time, worked out well. Although the group never took themselves seriously and basically maintained their daytime jobs and lives, they became the epitome of Frankfurt's underground music scene. Combining alternative rock, pop, folk and a mix of several other genres, the group wrote and recorded enough material for several albums yet only released a debut album "And Even If…" (1997 Warner Bros. / EastWest Records / Lowdown Records, Europe) which was voted a top ten album of the year by the German television media and two EP's "Won't Come Down" in 1997 and "Hey Laura" in 1998 also on Warner Bros., were featured on all German Pop/ Rock radio media outlets. The reviews of the bands releases and live shows were head spinning. Not bad for a few guys who just met twice a week for a couple hours to drink Frankfurt's finest adult beverages and write songs. The group disbanded in 1999 to pursue solo projects and in 2001, Bruce returned home to California. In was then believed that this was the last anyone would hear from Cold Manicotti but in 2008, Bruce was asked to organize most of the previously unreleased songs and put together a CD to give the bands favorite bar, "The Frosch Koenig" in Frankfurt Hoechst as a way to say thank you for the establishments support throughout the years. When the response to the music was overwhelmingly positive, including a great review by one of Europe's most acclaimed music know-it-alls, it was decided to pursue a record deal. The group signed with a small indie label in Los Angeles, CURB MONDAY Records and also signed a sponsorship contract with the Association of Independent Artists (AIA) to be spokesmen for the organization and pursue similar goals and projects. The album "Devils,Saints&Pretties The Best Of…" is slated for release in the fall, 2008 and will be available exclusively through the AIA web site, cd baby.com, iTunes and selected European and North American retailers. This nineteen song LP features quite a smart mix of acoustic and electric material and highlights the bands influences of pop, folk and rock genres. The first single "Magic Eyes" is scheduled for release in October, 2008 exclusively in German media markets. The group has also scheduled a number of shows at the end of this year in Germany and although they maintain this is not a reunion, they did add that they were not quite sure they had ever broken up to begin with.
