The Suite consists of eight contrasting pieces or movements, each with its own distinctive character. Their titles are, in order, Espiegle (Mischievous), Amoureuse , Entr'amis (Amongst Friends), Vagabonde, Pastorale, Affecteuse, Intime(Cozy) and Jazzy. The entire suite is available on cd, while certain tracks are available as download.

Most of the movements offer moments of both spectacular beauty and technical challenge; however, the first and the last, both available as downloads, are the fastest and the most brutally difficult.

According to Jazz tradition, the ensemble is actually divided in two parts: the solo flute and the piano are the melodic instruments, and the bass and drums are the rhythm section.

Music in Landrum presented this performance on June 7, 2015 as part of its series of free chamber music concerts. Our performing artists, Rita Hayes, John Cobb, Morgen Cobb and Keith Freeburg are outstanding musicians as well as teachers.
