A song writer in private for many years Paul Day is now releasing his debut album of original material: ‘The Game Goes On’. Bringing passion, enthusiasm, determination, humour, power, soul and an element of modern nostalgia to the table. Commenting on the release of the album Paul stated: “The concept of life as a game appealed and seemed to nicely link all the material together. The songs raising themes about the paths people take, the decisions we make or decide not to, the way we have to adapt/react in situations, the surroundings we end up in, and finally what defines our place within the game. "I really hope people will take these songs and narratives onboard in the way I have with many artists over the years. I put a lot of effort into the album’s creation, am proud of the result, and hope that ‘my take’ on things can ultimately connect to some people on various levels.” Much of his music and lyrics suggests a cinematic flavour, contemplates the big picture, whilst always keeps in mind the front line delivery of the music, which aligns with his many musical heroes. Although from the UK a large part of inspiration coming from the USA with artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, Bruce Hornsby, Huey Lewis, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Meatloaf and more recently Matchbox Twenty and The Gaslight Anthem. Born in Cumbria, home of the Lake District, in the North West of England and raised on Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, Paul Day initially started his entertainment career doing impressions and being involved with drama projects from a young age, with successful roles in many shows. This soon combined with his love of music and eventually led to him performing as a singer and picking up the guitar. A keen scribe of cartoons, scripts and stories when younger this evolved into passion for song writing. The surroundings of a small working class town and roots made an interesting backdrop when positioned next to his love of fictional media. He has played live gigs from the age of 16 playing covers, until recently, and earning the reputation of being an excellent front man and proving to be a powerfully diverse singer. The live shows being full of energy, interaction, drama, raw spirit, rock ‘n’ roll, and spontaneity, often lasting around three hours. Over the years he played with locally well known musicians and bands, whilst also performing solo shows. Gigs varied from larger corporate events through to smaller more intimate venues, with greatly diverse audiences often in attendance.
