Danae Komodromou, Professor of Voice and Piano - Athens Conservatoire John Sturt is an English composer, and his style in characterised by a flair for melody and very rich harmony. In this first release, he presents on record, for the first time, a selection of his vocal work. He is joined by the Choir of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, the Eris String Quartet and ensemble, and the soprano Jemma Mitchell The Cloths of Heaven is a slow and sweeping choral setting of the poem "Aedh wishes for the Cloths of Heaven" by Yeats. She Walks in Beauty is a setting of the poem by Lord Byron, and is scored for solo soprano, string quintet and harp. The Fishery of Souls, by contrast, is a bleak setting of the poem by Stella Davies for choir.
