Cyrus Sha and Exotik met each other in August of 2016 when Exotik hired Cyrus Sha for a recording session for his remix song "Balance". Immediately, the two artists hit it off as they admired each other's style and work flow. Shortly after, the two worked together on a collaboration single track titled "Planet Exotik". It was both Cyrus Sha and Exotiks first time writing music among other artists, and shortly after the release of the single, the two made plans to continue writing music. Sha and Exotik spent the first half of 2017 writing several tracks together, spending most of their weekends and free time in the studio and on writing sessions. After an intense 6 months of writing and tracking, the duo finally finished the Planet Exotik EP. They filmed their first music video for the EP for the song "Five" (feat. Suki!) on April 30th, 2017 in Madison, WI during a large block party, which fit quite nicely to the track's lyrics. They then filmed a second music video for the track "Newtypelife" on August 12th. The two features took the duo some time to decide on, as they didn't want some run-of-the-mills features. It wasn't about the names of the rappers or their followings, Sha and Exotik were looking for styles that would complement the beats each feature would go on. Suki! was a great pick for FIVE because his flow and clever lyricism was an eloquent and biting contrast to the entire song, bringing a fiery verse onto the track. Rob Hicks was chosen for Takeover because of his ability and speed in his rhymes, as well as his timbre and tone of his voice. Hicks' voice is complemented immensely by the beat, especially when the 808 bass cuts through in his verse. Overall, Cyrus Sha and Exotik not only spent an amazing amount of time and effort writing their first EP together, they also learned how much they enjoyed working with each other. The duo is very excited for their future together in the music world, and they both cannot wait to see the reactions and reach of their music, as they hope to have new fans enjoy their music as much as they enjoyed making it.
