简介

Akapello Di. General Silvera Born in Kingston, Jamaica on August 29th 1980. In 1985, church vocal performances was the beginning and early recognition of his dream to entertain. In 1989 he was forced to relocate to live in the United States as an illegal citizen at a foster home. Between the ages of 8-13 years, lack of proper guardians and caregivers was a new low for him and soon realized he had to become a man to survive, much less to entertain. His dreams appeared to be crushed and a sense of hopelessness was his everyday shadow. At the age 13, he found himself homeless, living in rat infested vacant apartments as a new way of life. Living life was a day to day struggle and somehow he was able to stay in school and graduate receiving his high school diploma with a 3.0 GPA. During the year of 1998, he was inspired by the performances of Raven Simone, All for One, Immature and Yolanda Adams. He knew his calling was to perform and a way to experience a better life for himself. His newly found motivation led him to work even harder to improve and be the best by seeking out artist management representation with JD Enterprises. The experience and exposure as an artist and writer led to the next milestone, as he sang and performed back-up for MYA at the 1999 NAACP Awards. From 1998-2002: his efforts continued to be rewarded when he was asked to join Jamming for Kids Sake with Raven Simone, Hercules and the Big Time School Tour; landing a performance thereafter on the Jenny Jones show. Akapello continued to stay focus & professional, realizing there is a better outlet in life doing music; what once was a dream is now reality! 2003: Determined to stay focused, land him the opportunity of working as a performing artist and writer for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’s new group ‘The New 5 Era’. Although the project was short-lived, the experience was just what he needed. He continued to remain aggressive in his entertainment career by performing with a band called the ‘Superstars’ at high schools and night club events. Following one of his performances, Jackson Brown attended and invited the band to his studio. With Jackson Brown’s guidance, he began to learn the study of songwriting and publishing. From 2003-2005, he attempted to write music scores, singing jingles for radio and television. He was learning and understanding the business side of entertainment, not only as an artist, but what’s required to successfully produce. While writing music scores, Akapello decided in 2004, he was ready to become a full time independent performing artist. ’The Birth of Akapello’- Reggae Island Pop cross-over Artist and Entertainer. 2005 – 2006: he produced his first movie soundtrack ‘Don’t Let Us Go’, from the movie, Mini’s First Time. The music was scored for the movie club scene starring Alec Baldwin and Nikki Reed. 2006 – 2009: Akapello performed live at popular L.A. venues such as BB Kings, The Big Stage and Sean Healy’s. He invested his earnings from the live performances directly into producing his first reggae cross-over album project. 2009 - 2010: ‘The Unwanted Immigrant’ album release helped him to produce and own his recording masters, which was his overall goal and objective as a new upcoming producer, artist and entertainer. Shortly after, Akapello successfully landed the opportunity to begin writing and performing featured videos with the artist formally known as Jadakiss and producer Duane Darock Ramos entitled ‘Bottle Service’. 2011: In addition to great opportunities, he encountered writing and performed a featured video with the artist formally known as Skeelo entitled ‘Burning up’. This particular song had people talking even The Conan O’Brian Show; the song was even offered a soundtrack placement in an independent film called ‘Killer Holiday’.
