Award-winning singer-songwriter Joe Solo teams up with a choir of former miners and their families to produce a heart-warming Christmas song, with all money raised going to help those struggling to make ends meet in Food Bank Britain. 'Merry Christmas From Hatfield Main' is supported by the UK Miner's Pension Scheme for Justice and Fair Play Association, and anti-austerity movement 'We Shall Overcome'. Following his 'Never Be Defeated' album telling the stories of the men and women of Stainforth and Dunscroft during the 1984-85 Miner's Strike, Joe penned this song drawing parallels between the trials of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the UK under Tory austerity cuts and those faced by the miners in their darkest hour, when people from all over the world chipped in to give them a Christmas they have never forgotten. As former Hatfield Miner and pensions campaigner Les Moore puts it: "We owe those people a debt of honour for feeding us when we had nothing, and this is our way of repaying that debt, by supporting those people who need us right now." All money raised by 'Merry Christmas from Hatfield Main' will go into a crisis fund for local food banks, soup kitchens and homeless shelters, to help anyone who needs it.
