Jerzy Madrawski is a very appreciated figure in the accordion community. He has recorded numerous CDs (above all with music of Polish composers); since 1980, he has also been involved in educational activity. After many years of virtuoso career, his artistic activity significantly extended towards composing. The CD titled Interferences is a documentation of Jerzy Madrawski’s compositional output from the last years and includes seven pieces for different chamber ensembles. The title interference may be understood as overlapping of many stylistic features, as a result of which a new, comprehensive and harmonious effect arises. Madrawski’s work is impossible to be labelled with a specific style. It is a coexistence of traditional elements, folklore-based features, the language developed by Astor Piazzolla and modern means - sophisticated rhythm and almost sonoristic sound atmosphere. The compositions’ titles are also worth to be taken into account. Exploration of the associations related to them constitutes an intellectual adventure for both the performer and listener.
