Bermudian singer, actress, writer Wanda Ray Willis releases her 13 sing cd "Here I Am". She combines her experiences, especially loves to create this versatile material that fills the listener with her addictive sensual lyrics and melodies. With something for everyone, the material consists of Jazz; Pop; R&B; dance and a little Socca. Her lyrics tell of lost love, letting go of love and of JOY and HAPPINESS! One of the pieces :Why Do The Children Have To Cry" actually makes one ponder that very question and maybe act on it. "While WE ARe Waitin" and the duet "Stuck On You Baby" features two strong male vocals who pour their souls into the songs. The cd also features two covers, "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and Let's Stay Together", further demonstrating Wanda's unique interpretive skills. Listeners have called her a cross between Alicia Keys, Phyllis Hyman and Nancy Wilson merged into one. Wanda began her music career at an early age singing in her church as soloist and choir member. She later opened for many international artists and was featured in several shows where se wowed audiences and the press until she left her Bermudian home to study music and persue her career. Her travels have taken her as far as Japan, New York, New Jersey, California and Baltimore. She has performed as artist for Specific Records; Peach Tree Records; Polygram Records and KUWA Productions where she also modelled for an album cover and was named "Miss Fresh". While in her teens she opened for Max Romeo, Billy Paul, The Manhattans to name a few. She was a member of The Essence of Love and was featured artist for many Rosebank shows and other venues in her home. She performed a solo at the McDonald Gospelfeast with a finalist group at the Carnegie Hall and performed at The Fat Boys tour. Wanda also has performed major parts in musicals including Off Broadway with the Riverside opera Company of New York and The Gilbert and Sullivan company of New York. In LA, she also has performed in musical productions at the Wilshire E Bell; Henry Ford Theater; Ford Amphitheater and many other venues.Her performances with the Arena PLayers of Baltimore received rave reviews and press coverage. She also performed as soloist with The Howlet Smith Harmony Choir of LA; The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra; opened for the Stylistics in Bermuda and for bony James at the Holywood Roxy of Hollywood. She also opened for Gladys Knight at the Bermuda Music Festival to rave publicized reviews from Steve Harvey on his national 93.5KDAY radio program. An active member of SAGG: AFTRA and AEA, Wanda continues to strive toward her goals. She continues to appear in film and tv productions; rehearse her piano self accompaniament project; promote a screnplay ahe co-wrote as well as writing more original material for future cd releases.
