A native of Los Angeles began singing and playing the keyboards at the age of seven. With a passion for music he later learned to play the drums, harmonica, sax, bass and guitar, then the coronet and trombone in junior high school. Playing for many years around town with his brothers, Rusty developed his stage presence at a very young age performing in talent shows, nightclubs, television, Etc. He went to Japan straight out of high school where he gigged and did shows playing keyboards and singing for almost a year. Rusty attended LACC where he studied music theory, composition, and harmony. He also studied Japanese, learning to speak, read, and write. Rusty's broad-based knowledge of music has taken him around the world to such places as Japan, Africa, Europe, South America, and Australia. With first-hand experience on the road as musical director and in the studio as producer, shot calling and on the spot decision-making Rusty has worked with such legends as Bobby Womack: Musical director for many years and also wrote and produced, “Forever love” and How Can This Be, co-produced other Albums with Bobby Womack as well Sly Stone: Rusty met Sly through Bobby Womack, They did a tour and worked together in the studio on the Communications LP, In fact Sly asked Rusty if he could take credit for a harmonica solo that Rusty had played… Barry White: Rusty toured with Barry White playing keyboards and sang the lead vocal on “Secret Garden” (James Ingram's part ) also writing and co-producing, “I Want To Do It Good To You” from The Man Is Back LP Kool & The Gang: Toured with them as Musical director, keyboards, vocals, and harmonica, he also did studio work as keyboardist. KC and the sunshine band: Toured with as musical director, keyboards, vocals, and harmonica. Solomon Burke: Toured with playing Keyboards, harmonica, and vocals Eddie Murphy: Wrote and Co-produced title track of Eddie Murphy's album How can it be, “How can it be” Ronnie Woods The Rolling Stones: Flew to London and stayed with Ronnie Woods To write and Co-produced an album with Ronnie Woods which later was coined as being too R&B for the record company and it was unfortunately never released! (Babyface) Kenny Edmond, LA Reid The Deal Toured with as keyboardist John Lee Hooker: Harmonica Ralph Johnson Al Mckay earth, wind, and fire: Session work as keyboardist Leon Silvers: Session work as keyboardist Smoky Robinson: Session work as keyboardist Jermaine Jackson: Toward with as keyboard bass player Rusty also wrote and Co-produced “Skip to my Lou” by Finis Henderson and “Ready for love” by Rebe Jackson from the Centipede album. He also worked with as keyboard player Billy Preston, Gloria Gaynor, and many others.
