简介
With a musical resume that reads longer than those of many seasoned veterans, jazz pianist Brianne Ford has been a girl on a mission to become a star since a very early age. Born and raised in the home of Jazz, the great American city of New Orleans, Brianne Ford began her obsession with the piano at the age of seven performing in her church and mastering her craft through professional lessons. Invocation, features over five years of original composition, over 20 years of mastery, and boasts an impeccable lineup of women instrumentalists and vocalists. This listening party will feature performances of songs from the inaugural album. Ford writes this about her debut project: “Home…like love is a feeling not a place. Rather clichéd, this is the sentiment I tried to invoke with this project. Invocation has truly been a work rooted in love. From Dizzy Gillepsie's "Con Alma" to my own composition Unrequited dedicated to love that almost but never was. For Clyde pays tribute to my teacher the late Clyde Kerr. In keeping with the theme of home and love, Wade in the Water is dedicated to my family home lost in Hurricane Katrina. The modern arrangement of St. James Infirmity is a lean to my traditional New Orleans Jazz roots and speaks of lost love. Invocation features three phenomenal female musicians; Toronto born Juno Award winning Brandi Disterheft, vocalist Tamara Williams hailing from the Virgin Islands, and Polish born drummer Dorota Piotrowska. It is my hope that this project will inspire listeners to feel, to vibe, to remember longingly of lost love, to dream, to fall in love, to discover and revel in spaces that are lost in our fast paced digital age. This is my voice, my prayer, and my litany.”
