Yodel.... paulleearnoldi@gmail.com BIOGRAPHY: PAUL Lee ARNOLDI now living on a mountainside in western Montana, writing and recording a new album; including traditional folk songs learned back in Cambridge, where he had the pleasure to sing at the CLUB 47 anniversary, January 2008. Recent performances include The Freight & Salvage Coffee House, in Berkeley, Ca., June 2005, Nov. 2007; Folk Alliance Conferences in Toronto, 2005, San Diego 2004, Cleveland., & Woodland Hills, Ca., 2004,2005-, Sacramento 2006 Appearances at local salons and coffee houses in the Bitterroot Valley, Montana. In May, 2006; at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, Altadena, Ca., May 6; California Traditional Music Society, Encino, Ca, May 12; Boulevard Music, Culver City, Ca, May13.... Topanga Banjo /Fiddle festival. PAUL left Laramie for Cambridge, Mass., to attend Harvard, where, along with many musicians, including Eric von Schmidt Joan Baez, Tom Rush, Jim Kweskin, Taj Mahal, Geoff and Maria Muldaur, Bob Jones, Jackie Washington, and Jerry Corbitt, he performed at the Club 47 Mt. Auburn, Boston area venues, and birthday parties. After graduation he was ‘CRVB’ #10 (playing guitar) with the bluegrass group, THE CHARLES RIVER VALLEY BOYS. In the fall he traveled to architecture school in Berkeley, Ca. ARNOLDI played his prairie-influenced-east coast -folk style of traditional and original songs in the major clubs of the San Francisco Bay area, including The Inn of the Beginning, The Catalyst, The Matrix, Jabberwok, The New Orleans House. His love of music overcame architecture, and he decided to “do music, and build on his own”. Another drive across the United States returned him to Cambridge. He resumed performing there for a year or so, including a stint with the UNICORN JOOK BAND, a short lived band, ( one Christmas season), composed of Debbie Green, Eric Andersen, and David Blue. ( Taj Mahal wisely bowed out). Then on to New York City, moving into a loft at 13 Bleeker Street, Greenwich Village. Knocking on doors, PAUL was well received at the office of Albet Music, an offshoot of Albert Grossman Music, ( Dylan; Peter, Paul & Mary, etc.) and signed a record deal with Kapp Records. A ONE NOTE MAN, released in ‘67, was selected as ‘Folk Pick Of The Week’,(“a happy cross between Roger Miller and Bob Dylan.”, (Stereo Review ). The title song was recorded by THE YOUNGBLOODS, on GET TOGETHER, their first album. He opened for BILL MONROE at The Gaslight Cafe, where Bill suggested that Paul get a cowboy hat, and take his song , WIDE OPEN SPACES (about Wyoming), to Nashville.... After a time in the Village, ARNOLDI packed up his dog and 6 and 12 string guitars, and returned to a nature filled life in the hills behind Berkeley, (Canyon, Ca.), playing again the Berkeley/San Francisco area clubs, The 1968 Berkeley Folk Festival , for the People’s Park Folks , a Penguin show in San Francisco, and birthday parties.... Back to the Los Angeles area, performing at McCabe’s Guitar Shop, The Icehouse, The Troubadour,The Ash Grove, UCLA, plus....weddings, and........birthday parties.... 1980-82, Paul moved back to Wyoming to remodel an old house, and on a silent prairie, songs were written for HIGHROADS, recorded on vinyl in Los Angeles., to be re- released in 1997 on CD . HIGHROADS TEN PLUS TWO is a resung, remixed, revised version of the LP. “PLUS TWO ” refers to two new songs: A PEACEFUL WORLD, and NO MORE WAR. "While other songwriters approach the back side of fifty by turning increasingly inward and writing about their specific early life incidents or giving up on youthful dreams and life, Paul Arnoldi continues to grow and evolve as a songwriter sharing universal themes and hopes that listeners of all ages can identify with.
