简介

The Buskers' 1999 eponymous debut album, with original guitarist Richard Danahy, featured five songs by de facto bandleader Craig Jaster and a diverse batch of covers including, among others, numbers by Fats Waller, the Fine Young Cannibals and Kurt Weill–a mix that showed early on the band's almost purposeful disregard for sticking to a straight and narrow acoustic folk/pop formula. Violinist Kathy Zimpfer (KZ Sommer) left passionate tracks in her wake on every track. The complete album is currently only available through the band website, www.thebuskers.com. Who's Gonna Sing About That? bounces over an infectious, upbeat bossa nova track by drummer Bob Woodbury. Jaster's lyrics feature his usual mouthfuls of rhyme and tongue-in-cheek perspective: "singers who once had a hit / are doomed to play it til they're sick of it/ or their fans would have a big shitfit / and who wants to deal with that? / It's probably better to work in obscurity / and hold on to some artistic purity / so we keep our day jobs for security / but who needs to know about that?"
