简介

David has written and arranged songs in a wide variety of styles for many years. Eleven songs, most of which were written and recorded between 1989 and 1996, are collected here. David is very pleased these songs are finally coming Into The Light Of Day, hence the name of the CD! Three songs were co-written with longtime musician friend James Demgen. James also contributed significantly to the CD as a keyboardist and recording engineer. Song styles range from acoustic guitar-based folk rock to meditative keyboard-based ballads and full-on pop/rock. Two a cappella songs (with all parts sung by David) are included as well as a mid-tempo country song of lost love. The CD concludes with a groove reminiscent of James’ work from his days as a member of the Flyte Tyme-signed band King’s English. The influence of David’s favorite artist, Todd Rundgren, will be apparent to Todd-Is-Godd-Heads. More about David: David’s arrangements have appeared on two Todd Rundgren tribute CDs. He has also contributed his work as a singer, vocal arranger, guitarist and bassist to CDs by Carolyn Koebel, Beth Patterson and Tom Rime’s Rhythmus. David has been a board-certified music therapist since 2000. He served hospice patients for many years and currently practices privately. Several of his original songs and arrangements are included on Honoring the Passage: Voices from Hospice Music Therapy & beyond. This 3-CD collection was produced by friend and fellow music therapist Carolyn Koebel. It includes work by over forty music therapists and musicians. David provided the guitar music for Living With Hospice, a documentary produced by Twin Cities Public Television in 2005. His music therapy work with a patient is also included in the film. Also in 2005, David released his CD In My Grandfather’s Day: The Music of Gerhard Theodore Alexis, a moving collection of sacred vocal music, some of which is sung in Swedish, and several meditative organ compositions. David also enjoys playing and/or using in his music therapy practice the Reverie Harp, the Q chord, the Native American Flute, the Ukulele, the Cathedral drum and the Appalachian dulcimer.
