BIO The groundbreaking phenomenon known as “Walt Elson” has taken the music industry by storm with his signature style of songwriting, producing, arranging, singing & Mcing. Mr. Walt has performed with produced & collaborated with some of music’s most elite artist. Artist such as BET’s Bryonn Bain, Snoop Dogg, Naughty by Nature, Ciara, The Legendary Ladies of SKYY, The Roots & Jim Jones. Out of all his outstanding abilities he’s most known for his distinct Deep Rich baritone voice that has made him stand alone & be sought out by thousands of listeners everywhere. His innovative production skills in Hip-Hop, Soul, Pop, Rock & Gospel has made him a limitless force to be dealt with in the music scene. With many major overseas & indie releases under his belt Walt proclaims nothing takes the place of hard work & persistence. Anything can be yours if you go out and get it. Walt Elson originates from the soundview area of the Bronx New York. The birthplace of hip-hop music. Both of his parents have backgrounds in Jamaica, Philadelphia, The Bronx & St. Croix. His father worked as a construction worker & a security guard while his mother stayed home to raise him and his two brothers. He would remember angry shouting matches between his parents. Sometimes he saw his father even beating his mother as a boy. At 8yrs old his father left his mother to raise the three boys on her own. The family would struggle for money so they had to turn to welfare and food stamps to get by. Due to tough times Walt’s mother gradually became addicted to alcohol. Not to long after that the eldest son moved because of the on going feuding in the house. Unable to keep up with rent the family lost their apt and had to stay in homeless shelters & with other family members to survive. Eventually they would find a apartment in Secor Housing Projects in the Bronx. Walt now the eldest son would hang out in the neighborhood and be friends with some of the hustlers and drug dealers around the way. They automatically noticed Walt was talented with music & basketball. They helped Walt by not letting him get involved with dealing and the traps of the streets. One of his friends got him a job delivering newspapers to help him pay for studio time and help his family out at home. In highschool he would get a lot of musical experience at the school choir and at the local church. On weekends he would enter competition’s and open mic’s. The competitions he won got the attention of Donald Newkirk (Prince Paul & De la Soul) (Columbia records & Rush management). He would take Walt under his wing to help manage him to learn about the music business and production. Music almost came to holt for Walt When he was arrested and falsely imprisoned for being and accessory. Walt was at a friends house that got raided by the police for allegedly selling crack & marijuana. They didn’t find anything so the officers tried to build a case on the amount of weight measurers and other utensils that were in the house. They couldn’t find something that could stick so Walt and his friends had the charges dropped against them. A couple of years later Walt lost is mother to lung cancer. Feeling devistated and depressed Walt started abusing substances & alcohol. He ran into a friend when he was down at out that reminded him to focus on music. Walt got back on his grind performing on the underground at “Wetlands” with the Roots, Common & Jaguar Wright”. Then in 2005 Walt released his “Turn up the music EP” over seas thru the Goya Music/Behn-Vibemachine limited label. The new wave Hip-Hop/R&B EP delivered a strong buzz in the industry and on the underground about Walt’s sound. The success of the EP catapulted Walt to various cameo’s and collaborations with many up & coming artist. Also he executive produced, wrote and performed on his “Inner City LP” release in 2007 on Vibemachine ltd. Walt promoted his single “Cop & Blow” touring with a live band at huge venues like Ashford & Simpson’s “Sugar bar” & at the world Renowned “Knitting Factory”. Walt was the opening act for VH1 Hip-hop honorees “Naughty by Nature” as well as the classic R&B group “Legendary Ladies of Skyy”. He also put together a hard edged hip-hop/soul classic music video directed by DJ Kiva for “Cop & Blow” that got lot’s of airplay online and at local cable stations. The success of Walt’s releases helped Walt build strong relationships with people at Universal Def Jam & at Sony BMG. In 2009 Walt put together his own label called “Rezilient Music”. Created by Walt & Andy Gabrys the label has started producing music that is creating a serious impact in the industry with many releases. BET’s “My Two Cents” Bryonn Bain is set to release his album “Don’t be Scared” which features the hip-hop hit “Community” Feat. Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Jim Jones, DJ Egypt, Tongo & LL Cool J” produced by Walt Elson. Meanwhile Walt is also producing music for New Wave artist Amora’s Pop single “Show the world” that is also set for release this year. Walt’s new Hip-hop/Soul single “Let me love you” is in stores/online right now heating up the airwaves with a remix featuring hip-hop lyricist “MAN”. The unstoppable force of Walt Elson and Rezilient Music has set a new bar for the word “Classic”. The label has also expanded by scoring music for independent film’s like 2009’s “Coolie Nation” with song “Man Made Inhumane Catastrophe’s” Feat. BET’s Bryonn Bain. Also 2009’s Sundance Film Changing Tones Music’s “Strange Girls” Song “I don’t know why” Performed by Walt Elson. Walt’s Rezilient music’s the newest hottest thing on the music scene.
