People who love my music often use the word “joyful” to describe it. They also comment on its personal nature, saying they feel almost as if they've entered a unique, yet welcoming, alternate universe – the only place where this music could exist. I get that, because what I do is create the kind of music I'd like to hear. If I don't make this music, I won't get to listen to it – simple as that. These people also tell me they enjoy listening to my music on road trips. This makes sense to me, too. When you are traveling through new terrain, you become extra-aware, of the landscape, the colors and lighting, the interesting people and places and creatures and things you pass along the highway. This movie needs a soundtrack! That is my concept here: I offer Andyland as the soundtrack to a musical road trip though my imagination. Each sound, each instrument's voice, each lick played by the many wonderful musicians who've contributed, each little echo – each song – represents a brick in the foundation of a particular roadside attraction close to my heart, something I've been compelled to create, because...that's what I do.
