简介
United States Hip-Hop duo The 49ers are releasing their fourth studio album MUSAIC on April 27, 2011 in Japan through Libyus Music. The 49ers (Marchitect and Jas Mace) became staples on the Japanese Hip-Hop scene after their independent releases in America led to a record deal with Goon Trax (Media Factory) in 2007. Since their first Japanese release, The 49ers have released, three full length albums (Equilibrium, State of The Art, and The Ultrasound), appeared on over 40 releases, and garnered a #1 single on I-tunes for a collaboration with producer Re:plus titled “Imagine”. “Imagine” would top the I-Tunes Hip-Hop chart in Japan for over 20 days. The 49ers are the only group to appear on every volume of the popular compilation series In Ya Mellow Tone, a collection that has sold over 6 million records. MUSAIC is The 49ers first studio album since their hard earned chart success in Japan. To keep true to the sound that fans around the world have grown to love, The 49ers used their own production skills. To expand the sound into new directions and dimensions The 49ers enlisted producers Soul Chef, Lems, Think Twice, Funtasma, and Hiro, all of which are known for their individual and unique production. The title of the album MUSAIC, is a play on words of MOSAIC. As group member Marchitect says “Each song was meant to stand alone on its own, but come together with the rest to form the complete musical picture”. This variety is illustrated during the song and music video “In The Zone,” which features a rapper named 2mo’key who raps his verse with The 49ers in Japanese. For traditional classic rap enthusiasts The 49ers blend, turntablism, live instruments, clever lyrical content and rare samples seamlessly on MUSAIC. The experience that the group has gained from sharing stages with the likes of Ice-T, Wiz Khalifa, Kool Keith, Styles P, Lupe Fiasco, and Common, can be heard in the solidity of The 49ers production and lyrics.
