Rather, Montreal guitarist/composer/arranger Gary Schwartz has managed to capture the essence that is Ornette Coleman, concatenating within his project the feel of an era that still persists today with the intricate aspects that have singularized Coleman’s music since the 60’s, providing all the basics in an engaging, oftentimes humorous package that offers tightly-written, complexly-orchestrated yet wholly current and accessible free jazz.
