The sound of Farida Merville is recognizable and yet unique. Farida Valga Merville Waal was born in Surinam (South America) and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The mixture of cultures and her interest in various types of music resulted in a style that contains soul, jazz, gospel and carribean influences. Her debut album ' Question Mark' has been produced by Farida herself. The musicians are leading jazz and contemporary artists which have contributed to the mature and soulful sound of this album. And for those of you who want to describe both Farida and her music: 'it's just a Question Mark.....' Her interpretation of Otis' Redding Dreams 2 Remember is amazing !
