简介

"Rushing to the Wedding" is a great album with a wide variety of latin rythms shown with very distinctive class. Elegant compositions with the influence of latin jazz harmonies and traditional rhythms protrude the endless possibilities of the guitar in the latin genre. Thumbs up to Eduardo Rocha for giving us these compositions that project his artistic reflections and moods in his maturing process of writing music. ABOUT EDUARDO ROCHA Born and raised in México City, Eduardo Rocha has traveled and performed extensively in Europe, Israel and Latin America. Eduardo toured and performed for many years on harp and guitar, but after his long trip to South America in 2001 he became inspired to turn his talent toward composition. The rhythms and songs on this CD are the result of his reflections from that adventure. Eduardo is a self-taught musician; he holds a degree in Oceanography and has always been involved in environmental issues. He is also trained in landscape architecture. This is his second compact disc of original compositions. Eduardo also plays the traditional Mexican Jarocha Harp and his first CD "Mirando Siempre al Mar" ("Looking Always to the Sea") features both instrumental and vocal tunes in Spanish language with harp accompaniment and was released in 2005 (CD Baby). He lives in Connecticut USA, where he performs his original music and also performs traditional Mexican music with his Mariachi Band (www.mariachiconnecticut.com). He tours continuously New England and travels regularly to México. ABOUT JUDY SIMONDS This talented guitarist and collaborative artist joins Eduardo Rocha on the CD “Rushing to the Wedding” to bring life to his beautiful compositions. Known for her extraordinarily deep, rich tone quality and elegant phrasing, Judy’s performance compliments and etherealizes Eduardo's 14 original works. She has performed internationally: in the U.S., South America and México. Imagine the haunting sonority of Segovia combined with the rhythmic feel and colorful harmonies of Jobim – that is Judy’s sound on this CD. Her great love for the guitar finds expression in Eduardo’s inspired compositions. Her tutorship with the great masters Phillip de Fremery (a protégé of Andre Segovia) and the Duo Assad from Brazil is reflected in these interpretations. Other CD’s on which Judy Simonds performs: “Manha de Carnival” and “Carribean Holiday.”
