简介
Carew & Breeze & Wilson is a happy accident. Graham Breeze and Toby Wilson are an acoustic duo in the Midlands of England. They've been making music together for ten years. Their original songs, as well as the covers they choose, are intelligent, tasteful, and accomplished both musically and lyrically, and their close harmonies are something to behold. Breeze and Wilson came to the attention of Canadian broadcaster Stan Carew when a listener stumbled across their website. The duo sent him a couple of cd's for free, and he forwarded one to his favourite CBC Radio show. The show's host, Stan Carew - a songwriter himself - immediately fell in love with "Harriet's Song" and played it several times on his program, letting Breeze and Wilson know they had gotten airplay in Canada. Breeze and Wilson had made two EP's by this point, and in an effort to gain a wider audience, decided to give away their music to anyone who visited their website! When Carew mentioned this on the air, the duo was inundated with requests from Canada, and spent several weeks marching to Her Majesty's Post, sending their songs to the New World. Sensing a pocket a of enthusiastic new fans, Breeze and Wilson decided to fly to Canada for a weekend of concerts, which Carew arranged and also played at. The shows were sold out, and a friendship developed with Carew, who had just started performing after quietly writing songs for thirty years. He subsequently visited England to play some shows with Breeze and Wilson, and while there did some recordingin their home studio. Over the course of the following winter the album Carew & Breeze & Wilson was completed trans-atlantically and released in the spring of 2008. Breeze and Wilson returned to Canada and trio embarked on a well-received ten day tour, including a weekend at the prestigious Stan Rogers Folk Festival. The collaboration of Carew & Breeze & Wilson continues, with tours planned for both sides of the Atlantic in 2009.
