Brandon B-Eazy Williams is a new voice in the genre of Gospel Rap/Christian Hip-Hop and he is FIRE!!! Regardless of his gospel and Christian lyrics, his style is unmistakably Hip-Hop and he is legit. B-Eazy, as is his artist name was born and raised in the heart of South Central L.A., the center of Hip-Hop for the West Coast. Dedicated to the church, his family is full ministry leaders, deacons, and gospel performers. Music has always been in his blood as his father was a gospel musician and his mother sang in the church choir. He was introduced to Gospel Rap at age 12 when, while attending a church banquet, he heard a recording by the Winans which featured a rapper, Master Rapper. The name of the song was Born Again and it would impact him forever. Listen to B-Eazy’s words as he describes this time in his life. “I began writing and rapping about the Christian lifestyle and the struggles of being a young Christian youth. I had many battles with friends and peers as they wanted to write about women, drugs and jewelry since that was all that was played on the radio, talked about and portrayed in music videos at that time.” At that young age B-Eazy sensed that there was something greater, stronger, and larger for the youth. Shortly thereafter at the age of 15, B-Eazy began to perform at his church, New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist, as well as other churches and youth events in the Greater Los Angeles area. It was during a performance that he met the legendary Gospel Rapper T-Bone. B-Eazy describes the experience like this: “His music and humble spirit inspired me to want to make our music more mainstream to reach people beyond the walls of the church.” Never to be thought of as irrelevant, B-Eazy has studied the greats of Hip-Hop. Upon listening to his music you can hear the timeliness and relevance that the general Hip-Hop community can easily identify. Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nas, to name a few; these are some of the pioneers of the genre’ that B-Eazy has been exposed. He offers this commentary on these influences: “These are all men of great caliber and they are also who I model some of my style from. I just choose to take my music a different route and minister to the youth that we can still stay true to our beliefs and be as big as all the secular rappers when we stay true to ourselves.” Ministry minded and Kingdom focused, B-Eazy is sensitive to the youth and desires to give them a different type of role model for them to look up to as a sign of hope and positivity, within a culture and genre’ that tends to be toxic and negative. “I want to give children of today someone that they can look up to as there were not many Gospel rappers when I was growing up and show them that all Rap is not stereotypical and negative.” B-Eazy, the new face of Gospel Rap/Christian Hip-Hop. A man of integrity and character, he recently married Christi Huff-Williams and is the father of one son of whom is he is proud.
