The founder of the band, Miguel Rincon, met David Dale at a local watering hole - Miguel was drinking, David working. Miguel was currently with another band at the time but wanted to pursue other musical interests. David had a rehearsal space and offered it for a jam session. On the day of the birth of Overtone, Miguel brought along his brother, John, to join the session. They began with a number of cover tunes, but realized that the original material that they fiddled around with that day was something worthwhile. They soon placed an ad in the local paper in search of a vocalist. One of the singers auditioned was Chris Recinos. Chris was just as impressed with the musicians as they were with him that day, and thus began Overtone. Bios: David Dale - Drums David was born and raised in the New Orleans area. Playing drums for twenty years and teaching for two has given this percussionist the experience and talent that provides the driving beat behind Overtone. Miguel Rincon - Bass Miguel, originally from Chicago, has been an active participant in the New Orleans music scene for a number of years. His diverse taste in music helps him create the wide array of variety in his playing. Miguel is the backbone of the band. John Rincon - Lead Guitar/Backing Vocal The second of the Rincon brothers, John, also of Chicago, spent the majority of his adolescence in his bedroom practicing his guitar, and it shows. His quick hands and soulful style provide the essence of Overtone's music. Chris A. Recinos - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar Born in New Jersey, Chris was raised around music. While studying music and voice at Loyola University, he also performed in many wind ensembles and in various musical theatre productions. His intense, melodic voice captures the mood of every song, and his ear for melody is what adds those "finishing touches" to Overtone's songs.
