简介

Excerpts by Charles Sweet: “I See You” is an amalgam of drums, brass and pianos where C Nameless takes a no holds barred look at some of the most influential political issues of our time ranging from banks deemed too big to fail to many youth falling victim to the industrial prison complex. I found myself in agreement with many of his assertions and impressed that he was able to go as far in-depth as he did with the topics at hand while keeping the song enjoyable. As C Nameless says, “wars are won with intelligence” and this song is that totally—intelligent and in today’s climate, more important than ever. (Excerpt from full review by Charles Sweet at Reviewyou.com of C Nameless album "Nice to Meet You") Excerpt by Alex Henderson: “I See You,” is a biting, incendiary political song that rails against the bailout of large banks (who he describes as “banksters”) and the corrupt alliance of corporations and government in the United States. “I See You” finds Nameless sampling Internet talk radio host Alex Jones, who is known for his libertarian views and is often described as a “right-wing conspiracy theorist” but is quite different from establishment Republicans like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity. Jones is very nuanced when it comes to politics. A Ron Paul supporter, Jones detests establishment Republicans and is a blistering critic of the War on Drugs, bank bailouts (he often uses the term “bankster”), the Prison/Industrial Complex, neocons and the Patriot Act. And he has done very friendly interviews with some people on the political left, including KRS-1 (one of the best political rappers of all time), Cynthia McKinney (who ran for president of the United States on the Green Party ticket in 2008), actress Roseanne Arnold and journalist/author Chris Hedges. Jones has been vehemently critical of Sarah Palin and George W. Bush, yet has praised McKinney and also found common ground with Hedges. So Jones’ views are complex, and his contempt for too-big-to-fail banks makes him a logical person to sample on “I See You.” The Jones samples that Nameless uses fit right in with the anti-corporatist theme of the tune. Angry protest songs like “I See You” aren’t as prevalent as they were during the commercial heyday of KRS-1/Boogie Down Productions, Public Enemy, Ice-T, N.W.A and Ice Cube. But they’re still being recorded (Lima, Peru-born Immortal Technique, for example, is an excellent political rapper), and it’s good to see Nameless recording a song with as much political bite as “I See You.” Hopefully, he will record a lot more songs like that in the future!
