Four young men from Indiana are back in the studio this winter developing their latest music, the result of which will be their second full-length album and their third studio release. With an evolving electronic, funk, and hip-hop influenced pop sound, these talented Hoosiers have been making music together for six years. In addition to headlining their own concerts, Turnaround has landed opportunities to perform at youth conferences, outreach events, and church gatherings, and has opened for artists Big Daddy Weave, Francesca Battestelli, Salvador, the Museum, and Chris August. Each member of Turnaround offers a unique set of skills, abilities, and experiences to each show and project. Both the bass player and a Bible school student, Joey Coons seeks to teach and encourage his listeners through his testimony and the word of God. Travis Mabbitt lends a funk-driven electric guitar sound while also serving as technical manager. Currently in school for sound engineering, drummer Colton Smith surprises listeners with his rapping skills and serves as graphic designer. Lead singer and songwriter Brock Barcus plays keyboard and produces sound and lighting for the band. While completing schooling for music business, Barcus was afforded the opportunity to intern with contemporary Christian artist Love and the Outcome on Winter Jam’s 2014 tour. While on tour, Love and the Outcome became familiar with Turnaround’s music, particularly enjoying their first full-length album, Live Free. “Melodically engaging and lyrically honest, Turnaround is the perfect choice for a youth conference or church gathering. With songs like ‘New Day’ as an album highlight, we can’t wait to see what this band does next!” When it comes to what is next, they will not have to wait long and neither will you. With the album release slated for early summer, Turnaround is booking a summer tour and looking forward to sharing their new music. For the latest project, the members of Turnaround have challenged themselves musically, lyrically, and spiritually. Anthems “I’ll Follow You” and “I Believe in You” are sure to encourage listeners in their faith, while “Criminal” and remaining tracks share stories and provide hope to the listeners. When asked about the main goal of the new album, in addition to expressing their unique musical sound, Barcus summed it up by saying, “I want to write music that does more than create a sweet show or make someone want to dance. I want to write music that will speak to people about where they are at right now in their lives by singing about the one who has changed my life the most-Jesus Christ.”
