简介
Founded in 1965 under the auspices of the Cincinnati Public Schools, the Cincinnati Boychoir presents approximately thirty-five annual performances in the Greater Cincinnati community and for local television stations, community organizations, churches, clubs, and retirement homes. Boys audition for the choir by recommendation of school music teachers, and come from all areas of southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky. Recognized internationally as one of America’s finest boychoirs, the Cincinnati Boychoir has performed at the invitation of and in collaboration with the Cincinnati Opera, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival Chorus, the Metropolitan Festival Choir and Orchestra of Detroit, the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. The boys have appeared at the Crystal Cathedral, aired internationally on the Hour of Power, and at Carnegie Hall as part of the Field Studies International Honors Children’s Choir, and in March 2011 made their first Kennedy Center appearance on the Millennium Stage. The choir has been featured recently on many local radio and television stations, including WGUC, Cincinnati’s classical music station, and both CBS and CNN nationally and internationally. Soloists from the Boychoir have performed with the Dayton Philharmonic, the Cincinnati Opera, the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, the Wright State University Orchestra, the Middletown Symphony Orchestra, the Dayton Opera, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the Miami University Symphony Orchestra and Choruses, the Sorg Opera, WCET-TV, the American Youth Choir in China and Europe, the Moscow Radio Symphony, the Leningrad Philharmonic, the CCM Concert Orchestra, the Miami University Men’s Chorus, and the Scandinavian orchestras of Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. Six members of the Boychoir have gone on to join the world-famous Vienna Boys’ Choir.
