Didier Elly Mbilizi a.k.a. OFFICIAL was born 1988 October 23rd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Raised in RICHFIELD amungst a diverse culture of Jamaican and African ethnicities and influenced by NEW YORK CITY, he discovered his passion for art and basketball. His father was mostly absent, leaving his 2 brothers, sister, and mother to raise him. At a young age, he obtained the mind of an older person. Taking sides to his older brother Ryan, he clinged to rap music as his "get away" from life. Not a day went by without music in his daily routine. The older he became, the more interested he became in music. Taking lessons by early artist LL Cool J, Bone-Thugz n' Harmony, B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Method Man, Nas, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Wu-Tang, Eminem, Jay-Z, DMX, and etc. As life continued, life continued to get harder. His oldest brother, which he looked up to, was in jail for drug possession and his father became more distant. He used his house hold hardships as motivation and drive to be on top of his class in school and focus on basketball. His teachers and mother became concerned with his emotional behavior in school. Anger boiled as he continued to get older. He found God and music found him in his 13th year of life. Rap music found him. He wrote lyrics that hit close to home and used it as his medicine. He became OFFICIAL. His lyrical ability was flawless for his age. Using the knowledge he learned in life and school, he was rapping before his time. He started rapping with a couple of friends from junior high school and began recording out of a closet. After his endeavours to make it as a young rapper failed, he clinged back to basketball. To make life more difficult at a young age, his brother was almost killed and his father was diagnosed with lung cancer and died before he entered high school. He then went back to rap music to calm him self. Never did he record until he entered his Junior year at Richfield High School where he still attends. Linking up with MYSTRO (producer/engineer) and ILL CONCEPT RECORDS in 2005. He recorded his first solo song at IPR studios downtown MPLS. At the time, he still took rap as a hobby and nothing near a career. He kept recording more and more tracks and developed his character. So here he is 10 months and acouple thousand dollars later releasing his first album. Produced by Mystro, Passion, J.MOSS, Conrizzle, ILL, and PROfound. With only three features he carries a 20 track album at 17 years old. Hanging up his basketball shoes and holding up the title to be the new era of MINNESOTA music, it is FINALLY OFFICIAL (title of his debute album). Rap was always there but now it is his career. Mystro is currently working on putting OFFICIAL on the map as well as Minnesota. Clearly together, they are the talent of this State among many and continue to prove critics wrong.
