Riser Returns Triumphant! Monday June 4, 2001 marked a significant event in Boston's rock history. The long awaited reunion performance of Full House recording artists Riser took place at Mount Blue in Norwell, Ma, a club owned by Aerosmith, before a packed house. The news had spread that this multi talented group was reuniting to perform some of the great songs that are featured on their CD release "Resurrection". The audience was full of many past, and present, dignitaries of the area's musical scene including popular rock DJ Harvey Wharfield, Bellevue Cadillac Guitarist and Founder Doug Bell and former Johnny Barnes drummer Artie Plummer. They, and the many friends and fans, came to see if the boys could still Rock The House. Well, that question was answered immediately after the group hit the stage. Their opening tune "C'est Goodbye" immediately established the fact that time had not diminished this bands talents. The powerful John Kalishes guitar introduction soon led to the soaring vocals of lead singer Tom Fey accompanied by the tremendous background harmonies that are part of the Riser trademark. They followed with "Never Get to Heaven", a fan favorite written by multi instrumentalist John Garr and bassist Steve Assad, a song with a distinct R & B flavor and a spectacular lead vocal performance. The next two songs "Was It The Last Time" and "Tin Shield", both written by Keyboardist Adrian Medeiros, displayed the magnificent vocal and musical arrangements that everyone had come to hear. Drummer Larry Dalton played with the same power and precision that are his trademark and provided the inspiration for the rest of the band to soar on the wings of the music. The final song "Listen Son" showcased the amazing lead and background vocals that are part of the Riser legend. The crowd in attendance was thrilled to hear the live renditions of the songs played, and sung, with the same majestic spirit as always. There was nothing watered down about this performance. These guys haven't missed a step! The band is looking forward to a September concert in Boston where they will perform all of the songs on the current CD. There is also speculation that work will begin soon on a new CD of current material. Riser has returned and their performance at Mount Blue leaves no doubt that the Magic is Back! The musicians on this CD include: Tom Fey, lead vocals; Adrian Medeiros, keyboards; John Kalishes, guitar; John Garr, sax, flute, guitar and keyboards; Steve Assad, bass; and Larry Dalton, drums.
