Drew Stevens' debut album entitled “Heart of Lion” is a great demonstration of his songwriting and musicianship ability. Drew also recorded and produced the record entirely by himself. The underlying theme of the album is never giving up and overcoming the obstacles that life throws at you. Big rock anthems like “Heart of a Lion” and “I’m Alive” are about staying true to yourself and what you believe in despite how others may feel about you. Songs like “I Wanna Fall in Love” and “Did You Feel Anything” focus on the emotions of love, relationships, and heartbreak. “Psycho Sex Ghost” is more of a comical jab at an ex-girlfriend with a cool, sexy little rock riff attached. Three bonus tracks are also included which were original demos written and recorded a long time ago during his Nashville days. “Hell’s Angel” was one of the first tracks Drew recorded and is about a stripper that liked to play head games. “Another Empty Bottle” is a power ballad Drew wrote following a breakup and dealing with the pain in the wrong way. “Worlds Apart” is a song Drew blatantly wrote about Taylor Swift as he admired her a lot, and you can hear a lot of subtle references to her music in the song without any direct reference to her.
