Single White Infidel has found what makes him happy -- writing music about nerdy stuff. His second album, Fictionpunx, is a journey through ten different sci-fi and fantasy-inspired vignettes, taking the listener through the inner thoughts of ten different fictional characters at pivotal points in their respective histories. A follow up on his last full-length album, the high-concept sci-fi rock opera Execution, Fictionpunx focuses more closely on individual characters, not to mention the increased focus on instrumentation and clever songwriting throughout the album. Ranging from the polished aggression of Rise Against to the drama of My Chemical Romance to the layered harmonies and melodies of Bad Religion, Fictionpunx wears its influences on its sleeve while crafting something interesting, varied between songs as the stories being told through its lyrics, yet with a common theme of loud, raucous punk rock running throughout.
