Alchemia is an extremely well crafted heavy metal band who are in the midst of climbing up the ladder in the metal scene in their home country of Iceland. The band consists of four guys with severe drinking problems, but have never let down a crowd, no matter it´s size and shape. The band has found it´s way into most venues in the capital region of Iceland but they have also been hard at work playing bigger festivals, such as Eistnaflug, Gæran, Akureyri Rokkar and Reykjavík Live, for example. When describing Alchemia´s music, you can visualise putting Metallica, Motörhead and Black Sabbath in a blender. Add to that a bit of Black Label Society and Ozzy, and serve it steaming hot with a little Nirvana. The result is what the band has been known to call “gourmet melodic bull-rock”, perfect for a good head banging on a Friday night (or any other night, for that matter). The band has released two albums, which were both well received by the public. Their second album Insanity has been well praised within the underground rock and metal scene in Iceland, and has caught the attention of the press, for example Morgunblaðið and The Reykjavík Grapevine. Alchemia have just recently released their 3rd album, Lunatic Lullabies. I personally highly recommend the band, and can safely say that if you want to experience one of the best new metal bands around, Alchemia is your number 1 choice! --- Kitty Svarfdal
