简介
Well-loved, veteran children's artist David Tobocman has been playing music for kids for 10+ years now, either playing original songs from his four albums for kids with his band or playing solo around Los Angeles leading weekly singalongs. "I only play well-known classic children's songs when I play my singalongs except for my original song, "Hi Hello" which works as a good introduction to my style and a nice welcome to 'everyone" (I hope you're here to have some fun!) but I also thrown in a few Beatles songs which I now consider classics. For years, my singalong fans have been asking for an album from me of the songs they hear and with the recent purchase of my dream guitar, a vintage Martin HD28 in great shape, I was inspired to play and record a bushelful of these familiar old chestnuts along with a couple of original songs with this lovely, warm acoustic guitar. A few extra layers of accordion here, a little mandolin there, and I think I've presented a collection in a minimal, stripped-down acoustic approach that shows the fun I have at my singalongs from my own personal perspective and I hope it inspires families to sing along!" Along with the many familiar classics, David has adapted the traditional American instrumental fiddle tune, "Blackberry Blossom" to a new original song that touches on the desire to connect new generations to the old threads that run through our shared American culture: Blackberry blossom hanging down on the vine When I was a young boy we'd pick 'em all the time Now that I'm grown with daughters of my own It seems that that blossom is impossible to find Everytime I go back home to my little town I always look around for the place I remember But we never seem to find the dreams left behind And the blackberry blossom is still hanging on the vine "I'm a full-time musician. I write music for film and television, songs for all occasions, give lessons, produce albums for myself and others, play in a piano bar three nights a week, accompany others, and fill any musical role I can. But it all started for me with family singalongs at family camp growing up in Michigan. I hope I can start little ones off to a rich, fulfilling life by introducing them to the wonders of music and the feeling of community and comradery it always has inspired for me."
