简介
Kaleb Stock, twenty-one year old singer/songwriter, comes from a musical family. He began playing the piano at the age of 5. He didn’t like playing the piano, but his parents were persistent that he should continue. “I’m glad my parents didn’t force it too much on me, I think I would’ve been totally shut off,” Kaleb said. “But they wouldn’t let me quit either.” In middle school, he became bored of playing the piano so after asking, his parents let him play the guitar. The first one he bought was an electric guitar. I’m going to be a rock star, he thought. Still, he couldn’t let go of the piano—it was his niche. Currently, studying piano performance at a private, Southeastern university, Kaleb has come to love and find his passion in the freedom of expression in songwriting and playing the piano. The Colorado native’s piano-driven melodies are touched with country twang and a hint of classical influence. His songs are full of heartbreak, the search for unanswered questions and small glimpses of God. His influences include Keith Urban, Maroon 5, Coldplay, The Fray, F. Chopin, and Franz Liszt. Getting through frustration and some disappointments, his faith in God is what guides him in the right direction. “God is a big influence and guide in my career,” Kaleb said. His passion can be heard through his music, but what keeps him going are his fans, including his number one fan—his mother. His family has always been very supportive of his career choice. His uncle, a piano technician, is one of his biggest influences. When he performs, he wants his fans to enjoy the music. “I’ve been told by a lot of people that they can relate to my music,” Kaleb said. When performing on stage, he still gets really nervous. He explained that getting up and performing songs he has written is terrifying because he is being vulnerable with his audience about experiences he’s faced. “I’m such a perfectionist,“ Kaleb said. “I’m scared to mess up in front of the audience.” But playing through the first song gives him the adrenaline and excitement to over come the initial stage fright. The majority of the songs he has written come out of sorrow or a low point of his life. “Most of my songs are about getting over girls,” he adds reluctantly.
