Sing over me is Joke Buis’ debut album. The idea behind the album was to create a way for the listener to be part of the stories these songs tell. “God sometimes uses songs to speak to me. Besides covers the album contains brand new intimate ballads and solid pop songs written specially for Joke by Matthijn Buwalda, Case Crayenord & Rob Buis. The album starts off with two strong pop songs ‘Speak’ and ‘Infected by Your love’. The songs ‘Broken angels’ and ‘Sing over me’ poetically describe how some people have to go through life overwhelmed by worry. One of the songs on the album: ‘Close’ was written specially for Joke’s daughter Emma. This beautiful debut album concludes with the amazing 118 year old hymn “In tenderness He sought me”. A hymn Joke cherishes because she used to sing it in church with her grand father who was an organist.
