John Ward is a full-time songwriter and musician on the folk and roots music scene, living in Lowestoft, the most Easterly town in the British Isles. He has performed in countless venues all over England as well as overseas and has guested on numerous radio shows and appeared on British television a number of times. He has released 6 albums of original material and had a book published, 'The Iron Bridge', all of which have received positive critical acclaim from reviewers and gig-goers alike (see below). John’s recordings embrace a wonderful collection of his engaging songs, written in a variety of styles. Praying for the Alien, was released in 2008 and was his 5th album. It features a highly eclectic mix of styles that reflect John's live repertoire bound together by the mainly acoustic instrumentation which includes; guitars, violin, piano, bass, percussion, banjo, mandolin and vocal harmony. With a strong emphasis on lyrics and melody the subject matter ranges from, being in the present moment, 'Welcome' and 'Back to Tomorrow', Childhood and being a parent 'Fall like a Child' and 'Frame Around My Heart', the fragility of the environment and the Earth, 'Bound Together' and the bonds of common humanity of the title track.
