Slop and illMEASURED are modern throwbacks, delivering that 90’s era boom bap absent from the art in the age of autotune. Both are hip-hop veterans: Slop’s been spittin’ in front of a live band for a decade; illMEASURED’s beats have been the backbone of Flawless during the same span. This is the first full-length collaborative project by the Naptown, MD natives. Slop’s approach to writing is distinctly classic hip-hop, more about fun and bustin’ on the competition than anything else. Moving over beats with with a buoyant flow, Slop's skill is indisputable. But it’s his magnetic personality that keeps heads listening. illMEASURED’s soundscapes are paired perfectly with Slop's concepts and choruses. This producer keeps close the soul section of his crates, dropping rockin drum patterns over sublime, gritty samples. Stylistically, he’s taken a page from DJ Premier’s blueprint, cutting up clips of rappers’ rhymes and assembling them into his own expression.
