简介
Livalect #TheHealer, aka the Fiyah Rebel, is an artist on the cutting edge of reggae music, bringing over 20 years of musical experience to the table. “Liv” uses roots and dancehall rhythms as a vehicle for his revolutionary message, chanting songs of redemption and persistence, to guide the youths of today. Livalect’s live performances have captivated audiences in Jamaica and all over the East Coast. Born in 1979, Livalect was fortunate to be influenced by the 1990s. At the age of 15, Liv was deeply inspired by the surging popularity of the 90s hip-hop scene. He notes 1993-2000 as being the most influential in shaping his musical career and journey. He adds that he, “misses the diversity of hip-hop [music and culture]”, and acknowledges that even though the artists of yesteryear we all very different, they were still able to respectfully represent the “whole” of hip-hop. In 1999 Liv landed his own radio show at a tiny liberal arts college named Oberlin College, where he played hip-hop and reggae music and free-styled live on air, as part of his broadcast. The following year he was afforded the opportunity to visit Jamaica, the Mecca of Reggae, where he attended The University of the West Indies @ UWI Mona. After successfully meeting and interviewing popular Rastafarian artists and dub poets such as Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Mutabaruka, and Yasus Afari, once Liv returned stateside, he immediately began infusing spiritual components of Rastafari into his brand and craft. In addition to his artistry, Livalect is also Vice President of the Fiyah Bass Music Co., established by himself and fellow label-mate and business partner, Fiyah Binghi. Livalect also travels and performs alongside Fiyah Binghi. Liv has worked with producers in Jamaica and England such as Rvssian's Head Concussion Records and Special Delivery Music, respectively. His passionate delivery and original lyrics makes him one of the most exciting new artists to emerge on the international roots and culture scene. Livalect’s light-skinned complexion has led to constant comparisons to Sean Paul, Collie Buddz and Gentleman; but, his revolutionary message and rebellious energy set him apart from the rest. Livalect recently released the first official release of his Fiyah Bass Music label, “The Money Pot Riddim”. He’s also hard at work in the studio working on his EP. Currently, #TheHealer, along with his personal tour DJ and sound system, is also working on the production of his official mixtape. Together, they’ve recently released “Black Queen” a creative and positive remix of Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” smash hit. “Black Queen” is the first single of the mixtape collaboration, and has already taken the Internet by storm. Liv's dream is to produce his own live album with legendary Jamaican musician, Dean Frazier.
