简介
Five years have passed since the release of JIM McCARTY & Friends. JIM continues to drop by the room sometimes jumping on stage to "trade guitar licks." Most of the players know him from MITCH RYDER & THE DETROIT WHEELS, BUDDY MILES, CACTUS, and the ROCKETS. When JIM sits in it's always electric. The musicians push each other and the music to a higher level. Your demand for a second CD and the quality of playing made this project a reality. Here is another round of unrehearsed impromptu jams featuring JIM McCARTY and some of the best Blues musicians in the world. JIM McCARTY & Friends II, for Blues music lovers everywhere! JIM'S Recording Notes COCO MONTOYA (Tracks #1 & 2) - I can't think of a better way to kick things off then with COCO. He is one of our finest Blues stylists. I love this man like a brother. I would also like to thank Rebecca from the opening act, The Royal Blackbirds, for letting me use her Gretch Hollow Body Guitar. TOMMY CASTRO (Tracks #3 & #4) - I've been digging TOMMY'S vocals & guitar playing for so long, it was great to finally meet him and have a chance to play together. He's a big Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels fan so he pulled "Jenny Jenny" & "Good Golly Miss Molly" out of the hat on the spur of the moment. NICK MOSS (Track #5) - This track went for 20 minutes, we couldn't get all of it in, but I had to have Nick's guitar solo becuase he just takes the paint off the walls. I'd like to thank his singer, Michael Ledbetter, for his soulful vocals and letting me borrow his Gibson 335 guitar. JOHNNY BASSETT (Track #6) - This track is special because two of these guitar players are no longer with us. JOHNNY and my guitar player & singer of 20 years, Rick Steil. JOHNNY was one of Detroit's finest blues singers and a smooth as silk guitar player. I have to give special props to my bass player, Marvin Conrad, for just laying it in there on this one. JASON RICCI (Track #7) - JASON was on the first "FRIENDS" CD. It was good to get together again. It was also good to see that he's still playing the hell out of the harmonica. JOE LOUIS WALKER (Track #8 & #9) - JOE & myself go all the way back to the Buddy Miles, Mike Bloomfield days. It was great to see him again after all the years. "Born In Chicago" is for Michael. cCARTY II - Jim's Notes Once again I'd like to thank my favorite engineer, Peter Jay, for a terrific job. Man, some of those edits should be in the hall of fame. I'd also like to thank Annie and Dylan for their love and support. Special thanks to Ted Boiteau for helping make the CD happen, and to Sally O'Mally for taking care of the website. Also thank you to Mike Moss for having such his a great room for Blues & Roots music. Tommy Castro appears courtesy of Alligator Records.
