简介

Musician. Artist. Record Executive. Born Branden Dupree, Fresh Jacobs was raised in the heart of New York City’s Hip Hop culture, The Bronx. Growing up listening to the legendary sounds of Motown, weaved together with Hip-Hop staples such as Wu Tang Clan, at the age of 6, Fresh Jacobs picked up his pen and began penning poetry. Influenced by Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Sade and Andy Warhol, he has been able to find inspiration in many art forms. Since 1997, Fresh has served a long apprenticeship in the Hip Hop arena with mixtape appearances, Hip Hop battles, industry showcases and college tours while simultaneously honing his songwriting craft. One of the performances, a showcase at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in Harlem, NYC, which featured an appearance by Michael Jackson, garnered Fresh the attention of the legendary Def Jam Recordings. After various stints with a few record labels through high school, Fresh decided to depart from the music business as just an “artist” and began investing in himself as an Artiste. While obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, Fresh created Black Genius Media NYC, an independent boutique record label. This newfound freedom allowed him the opportunity he was always striving toward – to release his own music without any exploitation by the traditional music business. For three years straight, Fresh engaged his fanbase by delivering exceptional art from his catalogue and building his digital presence. Starting in 2008 with the critically acclaimed, “The Cooley High Sessions” mixtape, followed by his first retail release as a professional recording artist, the triumphant single “Rose Mimosas” in 2009. By 2010, Fresh created All D**e Everything, a digital curated art gallery that focuses on cultural influences and taste levels from the worlds of music, fashion, photography and literature. Studying the greats before him, Fresh Jacobs was aware that the key to his success was the quality of his records. This extrospective, yet introspective approach led him to reemerging with his second commercial release, 2013’s “The New Black” EP. From the lead single and music visual “MJ” to the Rock & Roll-Soul “Niggeratti”, The New Black examined Hip Hop culture, artists, and the path to success in this new music business. In 2014, Fresh extended his reach by releasing “Glitterati”, the soundtrack to G.L.A.M. TV, an online program that highlights all things music, media and culture while educating, entertaining and empowering its audience. Currently, prepping for his upcoming EP, slated to be released this Spring, Fresh’s goal is to utilize Black Genius Media, NYC to redesign the face of the music industry through the usage of his own 13 years of experience and his education. The unstressed, understated, new wave elegance of his music, in conjunction with his outlook and insights – unspecifically Black and effortlessly sophisticated – deems Fresh Jacobs as #whatsnext. Similar to the greats, he is a musician with the repertoire to tow. No marketing, just unapologetic authenticity.
