Over the years, Phoenix J has worked on various albums, solo and in collaboration, primarily with her band Greenhaus over two album projects. She has explored varied styles, including her award-winning dance tune “Love Science 101“. Being experimental and versatile, after all variety is the spice of life, PJ (as she is also called these days) did not limit herself to just one musical genre. There is something for her and everyone! It was probably also why she enjoyed jingle writing on the side! Therein lies an artist’s dilemma. Everyone has to be pigeonholed…. so it is said. So, for her new direction, she will be going back to the root and birth of her interest in music. It all began with the tinkling of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” on her mother’s old de-tuned upright piano, and the strumming on an aged rickety nylon string folk guitar found in her grandma’s garage. With it she learned to play the guitar by following simple chords from song books. And the acoustic story then started and now, almost two decades later, would resume… This "transitional" album will bridge the gap between her last commercial pop release and an upcoming acoustic album planned for next year. The album is a small collection, a mixed bag of songs and demos written and recorded over the years, including a couple of live acoustic recordings, all of which have either been unreleased, have had limited release or have been unavailable for sale. The tracks have already been heard for years at various places about the internet, but never available to download until now. Phoenix J also performs live regularly on the internet, playing a blend of improvised jazz, blues, folk, pop, rock and classical styles on classic cover and original songs.
