Visit my new myspace webpage: http://www.myspace.com/lisadsimpson You'll find two new songs from the upcoming album. ***This CD just became part of the $5 bin*** Simpson began playing guitar with friends while in high school. Within a few short months she began writing songs and playing for friends and at open mics. It has been almost ten years since she first started writing songs. Her style and songwriting has been influenced by many artists from different styles, many of whom she covers from time to time: Simon and Garfunkel, Nirvana, Joni Mitchell, The Pixies, Natalie Merchant, etc. Simpson has developed her own style in the tradition of the 20th century singer/songwriter. As an album, "Steeping Orion," features many new songs, along with a few that have been waiting in the wings for the right moment. Since the release of her first album, "Taken Lightly," in 1998, Simpson has been busy writing, recording, and finishing a Masters degree. Besides playing solo, she has recently opened for such diverse acts as Art Alexakis of Everclear, and folk singer Dan Maher, who hosts "Inland Folk" on Northwest Public Radio. "I had a great time listening to this album...the instrumental work is pretty stark... the lyrics are awfully sophisticated." -Dan Maher, Inland Folk, Northwest Public Radio "Simpson is a strong singer...Steeping Orion is a good listen." -Colin Clary, Seven Days "Simpson Blends her influences well. A classically trained singer, she accompanies her rich, grit-and-silk vocals with uncomplicated but evocative folksy guitar work and thoughtful lyrics." -Heather Frye, Art and Entertainment Editor, Lewiston Tribune "Awesome folk-guitar and strong, gorgeous voice." -Erika Cunningham, Community News Check out Lisa on the Daily Grind Divas CD here at CDbaby. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dgdcomp.
