简介
If a distantly futuristic culture enamored with 80’s drum machines and performance art wanted to warn us of our impending doom, they’d probably send us Daughter Vision. If a small stage in a dive bar can be a space ship, Daughter Vision can fly it. They crawled off the pages of a comic book and refuse to go back in. Based out of Asbury Park, NJ, Daughter Vision combines analogue and digital sound with varied and disparate song motifs. Presented with a degree of pop and dance sensibilities and a penchant for performance and theatricality, Daughter Vision creates a gestalt of sound that is both unique and familiar, and a live experience that is energetic and compelling. Multi-Instrumentalist Stephen H, Christ’ s experimental and proggy background provide for sometimes angular and rhythmic shifts in these songs that are heavily influence by post-punk, new wave and electrofunk. The lyrics and delivery of writer and performance artist Brian O'Blivion fuel the music with a self-satire that is poignantly investigative and full of social commentary. All this while the mostly up-beat and dance-y music draws the audience into this realm between genres where our skills of categorization feel weak and direct experience is full of meaning; the meaning devoid of words. Daughter Vision makes art; the kind of art that holds a mirror to the party of modern life, that inquires into our feelings of attraction and repulsion and shakes hands with the unfamiliar. This kind of art opens a door and lets you in, but when the door closes behind you and the lights come up the room is not what it seemed.
