My first Christian album "From Here To Canaan" was mere introduction. Like, "Hi! My name is James. I'm an alcoholic (sinner saved by grace). My wife Kellie and I were married about two years when that album dropped in 2010. But like the title, it would be the calm before the storm. It would be a few years after the album debuted that my wife and I would end up separated for a whole year. Out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and straight into the deep dark woods. Afraid I was headed down the same path as my first marriage, I wanted to feel defeated. But God (BUT GOD praise break), said Nope! He would constantly remind me that I was a man of God, saved by God, in relationship with God. Set aside for greater works. That through Christ you’ve been set free and no longer a slave to sin or my past. The meaning behind albums title, SINhasEXOwneDUS (Sin has ex-owned us). 95 percent of the album was written during that year of my wife and I separation.
