When 2014 Frank “Big Sampie” Sampson Award Winners Adrianne Chapman and Mike Gorey met in the summer of 2006, they found a strong connection with each other through music. Cliche as it may be, Mike (former lead guitarist of the band Faded Blue) observed her singing talent in awe, and sought after her; Adrianne (long-time performing singer & music instructor, and great-grandniece of famed Cape Breton fiddler Winston "Scotty" Fitzgerald ) was impressed with his songwriting ability, and was instantly taken with his serenade. They started working together making music, and found perfect harmony. After winning the “Big Sampie” award in the summer of 2014, they set to work recording their debut album with renowned producer Fred Lavery at Lakewind Sound Studios in Point Aconi. The album, entitled “Where the Heart Lies” was released in October at the Celtic Colours Festival Club to rave reviews. A blend of Celtic, Folk, and Pop, the album incorporates the couples Cape Breton roots, and includes original and traditional material. They returned to Lakewind in 2016 to work on their new release "The Family Album", an EP that leans heavily on their ancestry and Celtic roots. They are now married and live in beautiful Cape North, Cape Breton, and are busy working on an EP of new original, and traditional music.
